Meet the Owner

Hi, I’m Chris Joosten, owner of Precision Custom Designs.
I started PCD as a way to stay busy and focused after getting sober. What began with woodworking quickly grew into laser engraving, and eventually expanded into apparel. As the business continues to grow, I’m excited to keep evolving and adding new offerings.
I grew up in a small town in Wisconsin, where my family has deep roots. From a young age, I knew I felt different from those around me. At the time, mental health wasn’t something openly talked about, especially for men. I struggled in school, had a hard time forming relationships, and often found myself trying to understand why my mind worked the way it did.
Through it all, I kept telling myself that if I worked hard and kept going, things would eventually fall into place. Even in the workplace, I often felt like I didn’t quite fit in, much like I had in school. Looking back, though, that experience gave me a deep understanding and compassion for others who feel like “outcasts.” I found purpose in helping train and support new people, giving them the encouragement and opportunity I wish I had.
I truly believe it’s okay to not be okay and there should never be shame in asking for help. Surrounding yourself with the right people can make all the difference. Life has a way of shaping us, even when we don’t realize it at the time, preparing us to become who we’re meant to be.
When I started PCD, I had no idea it would grow into what it is today. I’ve always known I wanted to help and support others, but I never imagined the scale at which I’d be able to do that.
I genuinely enjoy hearing people’s stories and encouraging them to pursue things they may not have thought possible. I connect with others because I’ve been there too. For a long time, I didn’t feel like I had someone in my corner supporting or believing in me, but that journey shaped me into someone who can now be that person for others.
That’s also why I’m passionate about supporting awareness causes. Being in my late 40s, I’ve spent many years on both sides, as a customer and now as a business owner. I approach everyone I work with the same way: with respect, understanding, and compassion.
I know what it feels like to be let down or taken advantage of, and I never want anyone to have that experience with me. You work hard for your money—I have too, since I was 12 years old. When you choose to support my business, you deserve a positive, honest experience.
Whether it’s a single custom item for a special occasion or a large order tied to your passions, you matter to me.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I hope it shows that I’m just a regular guy who found the courage to follow his passion. Keep spreading love and positivity, and if you’d like, feel free to share your story or your experience working with me.
